How accurate are the tidal streams?

They come from our own computer model of the seas around the UK and Ireland. Checked against 407 moored current meters, the main tidal stream is within about 1% in strength and 10 minutes in timing on average. Close inshore, round piers and in harbour entrances real streams can differ a lot, and the model includes the tide only (no surge or wind-driven currents).

Is SeaTrail a navigation app?

No. It is a planning aid. It has no charts and doesn't know about rocks, sandbanks or shipping. Always check local conditions, tide tables and hazards, tell someone your plan, wear the right safety kit and stay within your ability.

Where do the wind and wave forecasts come from?

Open-Meteo, which combines national weather and wave models. Waves are forecast just offshore, so sheltered water will usually be calmer.

How do good-day alerts work?

Save a spot (☆), then tap 🔔 to choose alerts for your activity and level. Your phone checks the next week there and tells you about the stand-out days.

Can I change units?

Yes: speeds in km/h or knots, at the foot of the trip planner.
